The mayor of my city names October 13th "diddy day" for his donations to such causes as HIV/AIDS and Breast Cancer. Now all thats good but, pump the brakes.
It took a dude from another city to get publicity when artist in the chi are also trying to make a way in the city. I felt that as a smack. Puffy (that’s what he started with that's what I’ll keep calling 'im) is a damn good business man despite his lackluster music. I'm not hating, good for him. Yet I feel that isn’t gonna slide when other Chicago artist have been doing their thing for a while now.
The radio was having a debate on which Chicago artist deserves to have a day named after them.
What it came down to is a face off between South side's Common and West Side's Twista.
Both sides represent yet give no reason why the other shouldn’t.
I guess they didn’t know about Common's Common Ground Foundation since 2004, which donates to HIV/AIDS as well as delivering computers to low income housing. Plus I feel his image of a street intellectual would come across the more thru the city. I don’t know of any associations that Twista might be in and if he is I commend him all the more.
But that who I felt should land it. Next time a key to the city, city cufflinks or even a day is rewarded to a celebrity. Make sure it's a native of the city is all i'm saying.
Man, what a coldsnap!
I've lived here all my life but i'm still not used to Chi-town weather. Hi 60's one day then drop to 20's the next. People wonder why we rock jackets/coats 6 months out the year. Ive realized today I need to rock a scarf. My grandmother used to buy me scarfs during winter and get mad when I wouldn't rock one. When that patented Chicago wind cuts into you it will be nice to have something to protect ya neck. Peeps from other places wonder why I still feel cold in 50 degree weather in other states, even though i'd still eat outside.
And now Sinro's One sentence thoughts on all the current shows he watches:
1. Heroes: why can’t black folks be in this show with powers? It’s tight though.
2. Dexter: This dude is sick, Joe. Lauren Velez though…ooowee!
3. Deal or no Deal: perfect game show for ignorant folks!
4. Ugly Betty: You aint ugly baby, matter of fact I’d Fu…AHEM!
5. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: I would love to work on a sketch comedy show. Maybe I should take Improv lessons at the Second city.
6. The Wire: Why am I watching this when the same bullshit is outside my door.
7. 30 Rock: Got love for ya Tina & Tracy! Hope this doesn’t flop!
that is all!
Back in 1987 a movie was deemed so violent and bloody it was deemed a rating X by the motion picture association of America. The director and script writer wanted his vision portrayed to as many people as he could. Through a number or re-shoots and editing the film was reduced to an R rating. The film was Peter Vanhoeven’s Sci-Fi Action classic Robocop. The Directors cut, now out of print is now available on DVD thru eBay.
I’ve heard that the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a ride of extreme Gore and Mind screwing. That peaked my interest. Especially when I was told dudes actually gets hacked in full view by leatherface.
Im looking forward to the New Master of Horror Series (the banned episode is still avaliable on bootleg) and Saw III, cuz nobody can do inner & outer torment like Jigsaw!
I bring these instances up because after seeing the Scream Awards on Spike TV With awards for best mutilation which the movie Hostel’s “Eye removal” won. My brother made up a good point. I failed to notice how the standards for the ratings have changed. What would’ve been rated R is now PG-13 and so on. I remember the days when simple blood splatter on the wall was sufficient enough to show that the victim got murked. I remember back in the day the most extreme flick to see was Faces of Death. I avoided it because of the realistic nature. I didn’t want to see real death and still wont to this day (im not that bloodthirsty contrary to what some believe). Even my Ex saw it and told me about it. It was like the original Jackass, the talk of one of the must see flicks during High School years. The Now the cutting, slicing and peeling of the flesh must be shown in order to get a true rise out of anyone. I am more prepared for the gore due to my viewing of imported films which they have no qualms about showing vile horrid graphic details of death. The worst I have yet to see so far has been the Suicide club. As fake as the film was; the beginning almost made me turn it off.
But I digress.
I know I haven’t been the only one to notice this. What I’m getting at is where my curiosity comes in. Too much sex and its rated NC-17 a rating nobody wants because it won’t generate cash. Yet nowadays a Man can have his left ass cheek chopped off while cannibals run to it as their dinner and it’ll still Rated R. Who decides to change the standards? How much violence do we need to become numb to before world takes notice. hmmmmmn...
I Think Ro' just landed a gig: details in 9 (days)
I decided I'm gonna switch to WP and remove MT. I'm tired of the spam and the skins kicks Mt's ass. I'm gonna first retreive all my dotcomments archives from blogger and upload them before then. I should have this all done by the end of next month.
